Hunter turns 2!

On June 17th (Father's Day this year), my little guy turned 2. Hunter loves watching Blue's Clues, so that's the kind of theme he had for his party.  We invited friends over to the house for some outside fun, BBQ and cake!  Mimi made Hunter's birthday banner, and he had a Blue's Clues special shirt and cake!

At Hunter's well check, he did great.  He's 36 in. tall, (95%) and 30 lbs. (75%).  He is a happy, healthy growing boy.  Oh....and I will add to that picky eater!  He's cutting his last 2 year molar.  He loves to hug the dog, play with Allie, and is a super cuddly little guy.

He's also learning a lot.  He knows at least 4 colors, and numbers up to 5.  He knows all his body parts and can can say some animal sounds.  He's still in speech, which I foresee in our future for a while.  He still has very few sounds.  He can say mama, dada, yes and no.  He signs more, all done, help, and sometimes eat and thank you. It's a slow process for him, but he definitely has made progress since starting speech therapy.

I still feel like books and stuffed animals are his 1st love.  Although is enjoys all his toys!  This week, we started sitting him at the table in his booster, and have not been using the high chair.  Another way to show how much he's growing up!

Enjoy some pictures from his party!

End of school, bikes, birthdays, haircuts...oh my!

Wow, the school year flew by!  Allie has finished kindergarten, which is wonderful.  She is doing great in school.  Kindergarteners take the PALS test, which is a language arts based assessment.  The benchmark, where the kids should be is at 81.  The total points you can score is 102, and Allie scored 99!  We haven't received her final report card in the mail yet, but I am sure it's just as good as they have been all year.  She is reading, is great at math, and now has a summer journal that she's writing in daily.  She seems to love writing in her journal.

She has learned to ride her bike with out training wheels, so we bought her a new bike, and she's fast.  It makes my heart skip a beat watching her zoom so fast, but so far...no falls.  She's swimming fairly well on her own in the shallow end of the pool, and I am sure by the end of summer will be doing great in the deep end.  She has finished up girl scouts, tee ball and gymnastics.  Her summer plans consist of the pool, play dates, riding her bike, camps and vacations!  Sounds like the ideal summer vacation!

Brian celebrated his birthday on the 12th.  I think he had a nice birthday filled with a hand made sign from Allie, replacement parts for his head phones from us, a surprise card game with his friends, and ice cream cake!  YUM!

Hunter got his first hair cut.  He was an angel.  It was much different from the kicking and screaming of Allie's first cut!  He sat in the seat all by himself, watched Baby Einstein on the TV, and let her cut away.  He really looks so handsome.
