Lynchburg in the Summer

We packed up 2 kids and a puppy and headed to Lynchburg last weekend. It was Sky's first long car ride, and she did great! (of course at the beginning Allie was just feeding her treat after treat, so why not be good if you get lots of treats!)

We had so much fun with the kids, Granny and Papa. Friday evening, Allie showed off her skills at baseball. Yes, it seems as if she's taken up a new sport. She loves to play, and Granny even found Uncle Joey's old bases so she could have a real baseball diamond to run around. Papa couldn't believe how well she can hit, and Hunter enjoyed showing off his walking ability!

Saturday was a morning spent digging for worms, so that Allie could fish with Papa. We finally found enough, and Allie loved fishing at the lake. She caught more fish than we could keep up with, which all were said Hello to, then thrown back in the lake. Next up, was a Ware family reunion, with almost all of dad's siblings there. I met cousins that I didn't know I had. It was nice seeing aunts and uncles. Later, we were off to the new spray park while Hunter slept, and then Allie, Brian and Papa went to the Hillcats baseball game.

I love the view behind her. This is were I grew up, lots of land to run around on. Glad Allie loves it there too.

Allie will do anything to spend time with Papa. They definitely have a special bond.

spray park at Riverside Park. Too bad things like this weren't there when I was a kid!

Sunday it was time to leave. We had a fun weekend and hope to get back before Allie starts school, and if not we will be back for some Hokie football soon!

Hunter's Stats and a few birthday pics!

Hunter went Monday, July 11th, for his 1 year check up. He was quite the little show off to Dr. Ben. He walked around the exam room and babbled most of the visit!

Hunter's Stats:
31 1/2 in. tall (about 95%)
23.9 lbs (60%)

He now has 13 teeth. I just saw the latest in their today. Since Monday he hasn't had any jar baby food. He's so funny when you give him a new food to try. He immediately picks it up and throws it off the tray. To get Hunter to try something new, I have to cram it in his mouth, with him NOT AT ALL happy with me. Either he likes it, and then will become a little birdie wanting, more, or gags it up. You never know what meals are going to be like with him lately!

He are some birthday pictures taken by our friend Molly! Thanks!

On the Road...with Daddy!

Last week Brian headed to Pittsburgh, PA for a 3 day work trip. So, Allie, Hunter and I decided to tag along.

First we had to find a dog sitter for Sky. We have a great teenager down the street, who is the kids babysitter, and also loves dogs, so I asked if she would puppy sit Sky. She came 4 times a day to walk, feed and play with her. So, once we were set with a dog sitter, we were ready to go!

I really LOVE our van!

Allie loves Pittsburgh. She went there when she was 3 and still talks about the Children's Museum. It's an awesome place for young children if ever you get the chance to go.

Now I was a little (ok...a lot) worried about the sleeping arrangements. We were in a one bedroom room, with 2 beds, and a pack n play. I didn't know how Hunter was going to sleep at night, much less takes naps. He doesn't sleep at all in his stroller, so I just wasn't sure how he was going to be. I couldn't have been more surprised, when the first night, he just went to sleep. It was so easy, we just laid him down, and turned off the lights. Allie watched a show with headphones on her DVD player, and that was it! The next morning, Hunter was in the pack n play and I was getting our bags ready for the day, and he just laid down with his lovey and went to sleep! I couldn't believe my eyes. Allie and I waited 1 hr and 45 min. while he took his nap, and she NEVER once complained, nor asked when could we go etc. She was an awesome big sister, just waiting for her brother to wake up. Once he did wake up, we headed to the museum. It was a blast for both kids!

Awesome water area. We spent 40 min. in this area!

I love this picture of them playing together.

Tired little boy.

The next day, we went to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium after Hunter woke up from his morning nap. The animals were awesome to see and so close up! Hunter especially liked the aquarium part, as he tried to grab the fish as they were swimming by. Too cute!

This leopard was right up against the glass, giving us a great photo op!

There is a baby black bear behind Allie

She went through a tunnel to end up on the other side of this water area. In the water were Sting Rays

Ending our vacation with bath time, before heading back to VA the next morning.

Daddy joined us each day by 5pm for one night at Dave and Busters, and the next night walking downtown near the University of Pittsburgh.

We had such a great mini-vacation. Traveling with two children who are excellent at traveling makes for a fun trip!

It's Party Time - For Hunter!

I know some of you have been waiting for pictures from Hunter's birthday party. Well, I really didn't take that many with my camera. Two friends took pictures, which I need to get from them, so I can share! For now, I'll leave you with a cute one I took while Hunter was walking.

More later!
